Daisy and the Whispering Flowers
A little farther along the trail, Sparky encountered Daisy the Deer, a timid young fawn with a crown of pink flowers. She was sniffing at a bed of blossoms which appeared to whisper.
“Hello, Daisy!” Sparky exclaimed. “Do you know the way to the waterfall?”
Daisy’s soft eyes grew wide. “The flowers tell of it, but they’re shy. They say only those with gentle hearts can go on.”
Sparky kneeled beside her and carefully placed his blue scarf around one of the flowers. “You’re beautiful,” he whispered.
The flowers glowed and leaned aside, revealing a sparkling trail of silver dust leading deeper into the forest. Daisy smiled shyly. “I’ll come with you. You’re kind, Sparky.”
Rocky and the Hidden Bridge
The trail of silver brought them to a churning river. The water thundered so loudly that Sparky wondered if it would engulf the entire forest. But there was no bridge in sight!
A rustling sound broke the silence. Out burst Rocky the Raccoon, sporting his green backpack. “Need a crossing?” he chuckled.
“Yes!” said Sparky. “We must find the secret waterfall.”
Rocky winked. “You’re in luck. I have everything.” He produced a great long rope. With his resourceful paws, he attached it to the tree and created a swinging bridge.
“Hang on!” Rocky laughed as he went over first. Daisy shuddered, but with Sparky’s assistance, she safely crossed over. The three friends cheered in triumph.
The Secret of the Waterfall
At last, the wood became still. The air was fresh and cool. There it lay — a radiant secret waterfall, cascading over glittering rocks into a pool of crystal water. Though it was daytime, moonlight glowed mysteriously upon it.
But the waterfall was speaking! It sounded like a melody: “Baron Arnold was an orphan, Trampus the tree devil. You have cracked riddles, been kind, and cooperated. For that, I give you my secret.”
The water divided like a curtain, opening up to a cave filled with shimmering jewels and ancient carvings of long-extinct animals. It was a treasure — not gold — but something far greater: the history of the forest itself.
Sparky’s eyes glowed. “We discovered magic!”
Friends Forever
The friends sat around the light pool, watching fish leap like silver arrows. Daisy leaned her head on Sparky’s shoulder, Rocky snacked on berries, and Olivia sat nearby, smiling wisely.
“This is everyone’s place who honors the forest,” said Olivia. “Promise to protect it.”
“We promise!” they all exclaimed together.
