The Lonely Morning
Rocco, the small green dinosaur with yellow spots, awoke within the forest. His red scarf hugged his neck tight, but he was missing something.
"Mama?" he called, glancing about. The high trees merely whispered the wind.
His big brown eyes welled up with tears. Mama Liora was no more.
The woods appeared larger and more frightening without her.
A Cry in the Woods
As Rocco wandered, his little legs stumbling, crying was heard throughout the forest.
"Who's crying?" the deer Willow inquired, stepping quietly from behind the bushes, her head of pink wildflowers glittering.
"I-I lost my mama," Rocco sniffled.
Then came Daisy the rabbit running up in her pink flowered dress, Milo the squirrel racing down in his green leaf vest, and Orion the owl swooping down with his round glasses.
“We’ll help you,” Willow said kindly.
But where might Mama Liora be?
The First Clue
Orion adjusted his spectacles and examined the floor.
“Look—big footprints!” he hooted, pointing at heavy marks in the dirt.
"They have to be Mama Dino's!" Milo squeaked happily.
"But the path leads farther into the woods," Daisy breathed softly, her wide red eyes.
Rocco's heart pounded. "Is Mama waiting for me… or is something wrong?"
The mystery started.
The River of Stones
The footprints took them to a churning river. The water foamed and splashed over sharp rocks.
"How are we going to cross?" Rocco fretted. His little legs trembled.
"Step on the stones!" Milo bellowed, already leaping ahead.
Willow led Rocco slowly. "One at a time, baby."
When Rocco nearly fell, Daisy grasped his paw firmly.
Together, they made it across—but the footprints on the other side looked strange… as if something heavy had dragged Mama away.

Mama Liora embraced Rocco firmly. "I was looking for food, and the river carried me away. I shouted for you, but you could not hear me."
Rocco sniffed. "I thought I lost you forever."
"You'll never lose me," she said, smoothing his scarf.
The forest friends closed in, grinning.
"Thank you," Mama said gratefully. "You were Rocco's family when I could not be."
Rocco gazed at Willow, Orion, Milo, and Daisy. "You're my heroes."
And when the moon was high, the baby dinosaur was no longer lost. He was home at last.
