The Missing Colors
Up in the sky, high above the world, where the clouds drifted like cotton, was Nimby, the small Cloud Painter. At a mere 8 years of age, with his fluffy white globular body and pastel swirls, Nimby had one singular duty — to paint the sky each morning. With his sparkling sunbeam paintbrush, he swept pale pinks, oranges, and yellows onto the dawn.
But one day, something went horribly wrong. When Nimby brushed his brush in the air, no color showed. The sky was still gray. His heart sank.
“The Rainbow Gem… it's gone!” Nimby exclaimed. The enchanted crystal that energized his brush had disappeared. Without it, the skies would remain colorless forever.
Pippa Joins the Quest
Nimby fluttered in anxiety until a small chirp interrupted his silence. Pippa, a 6-year-old sparrow with golden-tipped brown feathers, zipped over.
“Whoa, what’s wrong, Nimby?” she chirped, perching on his cushiony cloud shoulder.
“The Rainbow Gem has been swiped!” Nimby described, his pastel swirls fading.
Pippa’s feathers bristled. “We can’t have the world remain gray. I’ll assist you! I’m not big, but I’m speedy.”
Along with the small cloud and the fearless sparrow, they flew off. The winds were too strong, bearing the whispers of secrets.
Milo the Breeze
A playful swirl of air danced around them, making Pippa spin. “Hey! Who’s messing with us?” she chirped.
The wind formed into a boy-shaped swirl. It was Milo, a 9-year-old breeze, glowing light-blue and sparkling as he zipped around.
“You’re looking gloomy, Nimby,” Milo said with a whistle.
“The Rainbow Gem is gone,” Nimby explained. “We’re searching for it.”
“A mystery? I’m in!” Milo smiled. “Jump on—I'll take you over the skies in a flash, quicker than wings.”
With Pippa riding, and Nimby suspended safely within Milo’s whirl, the friends flew off into untold adventures.
The Bubble Forest
The wind brought them to a location no cloud painter had ever visited— the Bubble Forest. Glowing, giant bubbles hovered all around, reflecting fragments of colors.
“Perhaps the gem is here!” Pippa said with a chirp, tapping against a bubble. POP! It exploded into small sparkles.
But while they roamed, the bubbles sang weird songs. Some displayed shadows of a giant entity concealing something glowing.
Nimby shivered. “Someone has stolen the Rainbow Gem… and they don’t want to return it.”
The mystery grew deeper.
The Whistling Canyon
Led by Milo’s breezes, they ventured into the Whistling Canyon, where all sounds echoed a hundredfold. The canyon breezes buzzed riddles through the air.
“The gem you are searching for,” the echoes sang,
“Is hidden where the storm clouds bang.”
Nimby gripped his paintbrush firmly. Pippa’s feathers ruffled anxiously. “Storm clouds… that sounds scary.”
Milo whistled softly. “I know who that is—Grumble, the Storm Giant.”
The Storm Giant’s Cave
Dark clouds thundered as they approached a gigantic cave. Lightning flashed, and within sat Grumble, the Storm Giant. Silver sparks crackled on his gigantic gray body, and his lantern-like eyes glowed bright. On the palm of his giant hand lay the Rainbow Gem, pulsing with pilfered light.
“You can’t have it,” Grumble boomed, his voice sounding like thunder. “Without it, you can’t paint the skies.”
“But why, Grumble?” asked Nimby courageously.
The giant scowled. “I’m sick of my cave being dark. I wanted color for myself.”
Sharing the Rainbow
Nimby drifted on, his pale wisps radiating softly. “But the world must have color, too. If you retain the gem, the skies will remain gray. Will you give the rainbow to us?”
Grumble’s stormy chest growled. No one had ever asked him to share anything before.
Pippa fluttered near. “You don’t need to be alone. You can add color to your clouds—and still permit Nimby to paint the skies.”
The eyes of the giant softened. He returned the Rainbow Gem slowly.
A Brighter Sky
With the Rainbow Gem back in his possession, Nimby painted the sky with his sunbeam brush. Gorgeous bands of orange, pink, and gold filled the morning sky.
Grumble’s storm clouds glowed as well, rainbow-tinged instead of dark.
All four friends giggled together — Nimby the Cloud Painter, Pippa the Sparrow, Milo the Breeze, and even Grumble the Storm Giant.
That evening, as kids gazed upward at the sky, they saw more vibrant hues than ever before. And Nimby’s gentle twinkle seemed to whisper:
“The world is brighter when we share.”

And so, every sunrise since that day has carried a little more magic — painted with friendship, kindness, and the promise that sharing makes the world shine brighter.
